Indian markets are in fact more controlled (by the government) than US ones. Last few years were like "wild wild west" on the Wall street under the cloak of "free markets" theory with practically no oversight or regulation of any kind which ultimately landed us all in this hole!!
It's not a wise decision to invest in India for another few years. If a controlled market like the US experiences such short comings, you cant even imagine how things will get in India. It's going to be extremely volatile and the armageddon is just about to begin. Stay away from there.

First step - Write to WWJ Radio and let them know your concerns about the airtime provided to such nativist views which will result in attacks against foreigners.
Second, let's all call up/attend his show and dispute his views with facts, such as Presidents Economical report, DoL statistics on Full-Employment Economy. Lets corner him on issues such as collapse of the Social Security system if number of Tax payers decreases, and how does he intend to stop it without increasing Immigration as American fertility levels are currently below replacement levels. We can ask him if he proposes the Government should increase taxes instead which will place him on a sticky wicket.

It looks like not ALL applicants are having a delay in receiving their passport after Visa stamping.
I know couple of my friends received their passport the next day.
(H1 extension - stamping in Chennai)
But I understand from the forum that many people are experiencing delays.
Any thoughts on what kind of applicants are experiencing delays ?

Did anyone notice that GCTest's only interest was to start a fight between EB2 and EB3 folks.
See how he opened up a thread and threw a match to light the fire so that everyone starts fighting amongst themselves and he did not post again in his own thread .
United we stand and divided we fall. This is true since life started and will be true until the end of time.
You are absolutely right. there is no need to fight we are all in the same pool...There is no EB2/EB3. We are all people who are desperately waiting for our gc's and please we need to work together to have things solved...This post is not helping issues...but making worse.

Theoritcally, these numbers should have been used to reduce backlog in EB2 first, then it should go to EB3. Since no one cared about this, EB3-ROW was free riding in EB2 numbers despite heavy demand in EB2.
Everyone knows that EB3 is heavily retrogressed compare to EB2. No doubt about that. The only solution for this is to increse the numbers. Everyone is working hard. However, it does not mean that one should ignore how DOS/USCIS mis-interpertinng the law and doing harm to EB2 Indians and Chinese. No one here is to sacrifice for EB3-ROW. I am sure this is going to happen within this week or next week.
1. They are going to take the revised visa bulletin and flip flop out from the website.
2. They will accept application as Visa Bulletin said on Jun 9th.
3. Because of this mess, they are going to give grace period till Aug 2007 for filing.
And in addition they will say that they will keep it in the backlog and when Visa number gets available they will process.

That is so TRUE! Ask me I finished my undergraduate from US, and I didn't get selected in the H1 lottery system 3 times, yes 3 times. Neither my wife's labor was cleared in July fiasco. So imagine my situation.
So,
who do I blame? US govt? Or these Desi companies who have exploited H1B system to the core, abusing the system and making our lives miserable each day. Well I am about to join an organization, which will report these Desi companies straight to Department of Commerce, there are a group of students from other Universities who are planning to be a part of the organization.
Your question is genuine. Whom to blame ? definitely US gov for not providing enough H1B numbers.
What makes you think the permanent employees are better qualified to get an H1 than the ones from consulting companies ?
Generally consultants are highly competitive than the so called "permanent" employees. Many US graduates are employed due to some agreement between the universities and companies. During my consulting career, I have seen so many mediocre permanent employees who were hired just because they graduated from some XYZ US university.
I had a colleague who was PHD in computer science from some US university. His main topic of PHD, "parrallel processing". He didn't even have a proper understanding of different POSIX thread calls which he used for his PHD. That is the value of a US degree or PHD. Your degree is only as good as you !
I have been seeing many members talking about taking on consulting companies so that they can get better chunk of H1B visas. If you are that smart, go ahead and lobby for GC exemption for US graduates.
