Leadership or Money is not issue for getting results. Why there is so much oppositon to H1b and GC increase? There is a fear in certain american people that they may lose job to the low wage H1b people. Is anyone either corportions or Pro-immigrants trying to remove the fear? Is skill bill has any protection to american workers? We want to increase to h1b or gc without botherng the impact. Now USA really need more h1bs and gcs. But are we suggesting anything when job growth stops or recession happens? Rememember so many people were laid off between 2000 to 2003 including H1b people and Americans but that time also most of 195k h1b was used. I knew lot of people

Why do they come on wife's account ? Is it legal if spouse makes mistake in any case ?
Wife or child account is considered a 'FAMILY' account and they can impound that account. Unless you divorce your wife and then transfer the money into that account you cannot expect that the money in your wife's (or ex-wife's) account is safe if a judgement is passed against you.

When I called Lucille Raybal Allard's office last week, a rep from the office had an extensive conversation with me about both the bills and they have not heard about them before. He recognized me when I called him back to check if they made a decision.

I am an IV old timer and I was wondering where the IV old timers were?

How many core IV members have already received their GCs besides Aman, just curious?
Of late is there anything of note even happening on the lobbying front? IV seems to have become another Immigration Portal kinda website where people are now posting all sorts of info, some of it not even immigration related.
It would be nice if someone in the core team updated the rest of us, who cannot join the state chapters due to personal reasons on the website.

Personally, I wouldn't consider it obligatory to answer a specific question by someone who cannot volunteer due to "Personal Reason", whatever that may mean. If you cannot volunteer, cannot participate in IV's action items, cannot contribute, then you are most welcome to use IV's portal to get answers to your questions or get other kind of information - but do not expect updates from anyone as your right!
IV is not a top-down organization and if you think that it is becoming like Immigration Portal then partially it is due to people like you who do not want to participate but just want 'updates'.

i called a couple of times spoke to Inf officer at NSC ,
&& she told she was not aware of cases where NSC has created rejection letters and sent them also she added they just completed june filers and will be starting to proceed with JULY .
Now reg. my processing times:

She also adviced most probably i should receive some kind of communication before end of july !!

I totally support banishing country quota. It is totally unfair specially to folks from India/China/Mexico and others (in EB category).
However if we analyze the current mess. Following are some of the things that led to it
First of all 65K is the number of H1-B's that are issued every year. Lets assume all of 65K applies for GC >> then we get 65 K * 2.2 (dependents) = 143K GC's.
Then how come we have such a big backlog.
1. H1b visa ceiling was increased to 195K during the tech boom of 2000's but they never increased the EB based green card (it remained 140K)
2. Wastage of EB visa by USCIS. Some estimates are in range of 500K. But let's say they wasted half of it (250K). This should be sufficient to clear the backlog.
3. Third of last few years with rise in economies of India and china and ROW, we have seen an increase in the L1's (globalization). I totally agree with this and have no issues with L1's. And many of L1's decide to stay in US. And of course GC comes from EB category.
Simple logic is H1-B non-immigrant visa has been recognized as dual intent, which means holders of H1B can legally apply for GC.
On the other hand Congress and US govt have failed to provide adequate GC for EB. The system is a total chaos now for all the above reasons.
This is what we need to communicate to congress/us govt and if required challenge in court.

you had waited for such a long time. I would suggest to take a big break and visit india and come back. In fact you can do the same in EAD. Think forward don't get your emotions in the way.
That is correct, 9 months and then I will return to my country for good.
I am waiting for the day when we get the GC , we will tear it into pieces and throw in front of consulate.

i myself was quite clueless about the immigration process when i started out and got stuck in EB3 unnecessarily. Even though my company is one of the best in the industry they had never done H1 or GC before i came along and were quite clueless about it.
This forum is meant for asking immigration questions...lets be helpful rather than speculate on the person's circumstances or acumen.

I submitted usps money orders for I-485 fees. Filed on july 2nd.
Any way to find out if those money orders are enchashed or no?
I did try google search and so far no answer.
My case is not entirly same. I bought bank money order, and I was told one way to find out is request local branch to call on and find out. I was wonder, may be you could ask usps local office staff about it.

We all can certainly do one thing, we can write emails, letters to editors and media talking about our personal situations, highlighting EB visa backlog and how that is hurting legal-tax paying aliens like us. We can raise awareness in the media and we can bring new members.
When something is asked of us, we should do that. Pappu asked everyone to write to the editors thanking them for the story about immigrant entreprenuers. Just yesterday, we had some people come forward and write to all these editors.
Myself and some other members even posted names and emails of all the editors that we should thank in the "news article thread". If all of us can go there and write emails and flood them with thank-you notes, we will get noticed. Remember the print media business is based on how many readers they have, we have to make them feel that this issue is very important and is getting them more readers and membership.

I wish more people participated in it. infact if more members can continue to do it today it will be very helpful. yesterday there were at least 3 mails from reporters expressing interest in us. This was because a few people wrote to them about IV and requested them to do a followup article abut us. I had found about 72 articles yesterday morning and we had more than 50 potential reporters to contact.It is not easy to get press coverage and this is one opportunity where we can captitalize on the venture captitalist story (no pun intentended).

1. I was wondering how this rule would affect people like me. My labor has been approved and its been about 50 days. I will be applying for I-140 this week. Will this 45-day rule affect me?

If what is stated in immigrationportal about the labor substitution is true, then we don't have any real benefit from the this rule, because all labors certified before the implementation of this rule are not bound by the 45-days time constraint?!? All the so called desi companies may not sell the labors, but would not spend money to cancel it either. So those old labors are going waste as they are still active.
The cut-off date is determined by #485, not LC.
