So typical of you guys. Once you lose an argument you start abusing and if the opponent is a female its more the merrier for you guys. Do you even know the basis rule of being polite with everyone in USA. So if the guy is an american you will kiss his feet. The moment the person is an indian you start abusing if it is an indian female then you have a licence to abuse
And these are the kinds of people who will get US citizenshiph
If you flip the pages you would know who started all these.
I did have some respect for your words though

You are all entitled to read 10000 lines of goobledegook....
Follow the URLs I posted...
I have to first think of the words that I have to search for. Alisa has already picked on me that I don't even know ROW, RIR, Schedule A. This is not very useful for me.
Is there a Java Specification kind of book that I can start from begining to end? Thanks.

I am eligible to file for 485 under the current (July) visa bulletin. My wife is transitioning from L1B(expired in May) to H4(Awaiting receipt) and is therefore out of status. I am wondering if she should apply with me (claiming that her status is H4) or should she wait till she gets her H4 (which could be in August).
My questions are:
1. Is it necessary that one's spouse should apply concurrently?
2. Can one's spouse (H4) apply for 485 as a follow up to her husband's application in July even if the visa numbers are not available (i.e in August when the visa bulletin says Unavailable)?
please help.

Here is the dilemma.... The Idea is great...It can change our lives But if we sit on the idea for long it will rot So DO WE TAKE ACTION or LET US WAIT FOR CORE TO COME UP WITH SOLUTION. I would suggest we form a small committee or group of people who can brainstorm and come up with possible course of actions and then present the idea to core.
This is similar to House->Judiciary committee -> Immigration sub Committee
idea is to analyze the situation and come up with the best solution rather than waiting for
CORE to act on.
Sounds like a plan. Newbie2020, does your earlier offer for a bridge still stand ? If yes, whoever is interested in attending the initial bridge call, send me a PM with your contact number and name and we will take it from there.

Folks, which part of staying united aren't we understanding? What is the point in reviving old issues? BTW, I do not have a substituted labor or haven't ported from EB-3 to EB-2. As long as we keep these divisive issues at the forefront, it will be tough for us to rise as one 'united' force to tackle the 'real' issues that the highly skilled community is facing. Let's focus on IV's agenda and that will help us to achieve what we all are aiming for - a GC. Shun issues that will help 'me', rather focus on issues that will help 'us'.

I was watching CSPAN last night and both Senate majority leader and minority leader were talking about what they are planning to do in the next few weeks, Minority leader Senator Mitch McConnell talked about the Omnibus Bill and few other appropriation bills and he was hinting that they are planning on getting some of these done before Christmas. According to him, the congress does not have any other choice but to get these passed ASAP. This is the best time to attach and just ride the wave.
If we are to get anything done about our sorry state, this is it.
We need everyone to contribute.
Dont think that IV will somehow find the money and do this on behalf of the community.
It is not the reality.
We need members to pitch in.
This is too important to ignore, I am sure if we dont do anything now we will be regretting about the opportunity we had and how we didnt do anything. We will not see another opportunity for at least an year.
Now click on the Contribute button and do your part..
I will guarantee you one thing; you will feel good that at least you did what you could instead of waiting on the side lines.

I have a problem where my "Given Name" is entered as "<first name> <last name>" in my passport (India). The "Surname" is left blank. I have been in the US for 7 years now and it has never been a problem so far. I usually enter the "<last name>" in the last name column on all documents. I wonder if this will cause problems during the I485 name check stage. Any one here who can throw some light on this issue?
I realize that the question is a little weird, I appreciate any response.
Thanks

We have nothing else to do on the immigration front for the next 50 days.. lets do this.
Sweet_jungle and Bawa,
Thank you for your initiative. After the raised and dashed hopes over the past 2-3 months (August, Sept & Oct 2008 visa bulletins) I am BLOODY angry about this RIDICULOUSLY fecked up system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the hell am I subjecting myself to this indignity!!
Here is a letter I drafted that I'd like to send to the Ombudsman .. could you'll help me edit/revise the content and also, please provide me with the contact info for the ombudsman?
we could also write letters to highlight this to Congresswoman Lofgren as well as publish it in media outlets?
Thanks!
Sir/Madam,
On behalf of the Indian legal immigrant community in the United States of America, I am
writing to highlight the ongoing egregious inefficiencies in the immigration services
provided by the USCIS and the DOS. There have been numerous times when there have been erratic movements in the published visa bulletin dates. As a result the DOS either under- or over-estimates the number of applicants available for adjustment of status. When the date moves forward by too large a window, USCIS tends to approve the more recent applications as opposed to the ones that were filed earlier. Let me explain with an example: in the July 2008 visa bulletin, the cut-off date for the India EB2 category was 01 April 2004. A month later, the cut-off date for Indian EB2 applicants abruptly moved forward two years and was set at 01 June 2006. Instead of approving applicants who applied in 2004 and 2005, USCIS approved applicants from 2006. Where is the justice in that???
Indian employment-based immigrants are tax-paying, law-abiding, educated individuals contributing to Americas knowledge economy - yet we have been subjected to the worst aspects of the US employment-based immigration system. These include:
1) Extended wait times at each step of the immigration process.
2) Lack of transparency on the part of USCIS.
3) Lost opportunities owing to the lack of job portability during the process (a time period spanning an average of five years, whereas an applicant from any country besides India gets his/her PR card in under two years).
While we are grateful for the opportunity to partake in the American dream, it is ironic that we arrive in America and find that our freedom is shackled we are bound to our sponsoring employer from the start to the end of this extremely lengthy process. Although legal immigration reform is our ongoing aim, for now, we sincerely request you to investigate the process whereby the monthly visa bulletin is set and to ensure FIFO (first in, first out) adjustment so that those of us who have been waiting longer receive attention prior to those who have applied later.
Thanking you,
