It is always advisable to take an Immigration Attorney with you during an AOS interview. Attorneys usually fill in when you pause or are uncertain. Thanks for sharing this information - looks like this is a very generic interview.
The most important question was - to know if your educational qualification is good enough for the job and all other questions were just fillers.
Congrats - hope you get ur GC soon :)
Thanks Chandu. You too! And all of us here. :)

192.168.xx.xx is private IP address. Your service provider is Comcast and your IP is 71.61.241.65. We would not post your IP if you do not stop making things up. We know that its the same person, you cannot convince otherwise. Look, I am not telling you to mend your ways, do what you feel helps your objective. But when we find something in competition with our objective, we will have to let you know. And as you suggested, please do send us your phone number. We sure would like to get a chance to speak with you.
Thanks,

Hey,
My lawyer had applied for my H1 for the masters quota on the 11th of April and I still havent got a receipt notice. I have had friends who applied after that and they got it.
I am getting worried about this. Mine was sent to the Vermont center. My lawyer assures me that my case has been filed but I am worried about it. Is there anyone who has had similar issues. Please do let me know
thanks

Not limiting ourselves to "professionals"...
J. M. Coetzee came to the US from South Africa as a student. He got his Ph.D. in (English) literature from the University of Texas, Austin. Worked as a professor in the US for many years.
His application for green card was treated almost with contempt! It was rejected.
He left the US, but occassionally visited top English/Literature departments in the US for brief periods, lecturing and collaborating.
He was awarded the Nobel prize in literature in 2003. He is now settled in Australia.
I could go on and on and on ...
Wow. I'm a fan of Coetzee -- can you tell us more about his green card experience? Why was it denied?

I am starting to see a trend in the receipt notices.
Some of the people reporting getting recepit notices this week (yesterday and today) have LUDs of 07/28/07. My thinking is that This week will see receipt notices for everyone with an LUD of 07/28/07
HOPEFULLY next week will see receipt notices for 08/05/2008. This is just my observation.
People please post your LUDs for your I-140, the service center AND how your receipt numbers start (SRC vs LIN) each time you post a receipt notice.
I dont know if that is true. I saw LUD on my I-140 on 08/05 and my 485 was received by USCIS on July 16th. I am not expecting my receipts next week.

Dear Mr. Gonzalez,
Thanks for giving us hope for few hours
on July 1st and taking it away (I-485 Reversal). We
enjoyed the ride and the pain. Hope
USCIS recovers from its insanity soon.

Sad, but true, the substitution labor are utilizing the visa numbers a lot.. Not sure if any thing can be done @ this time.... There were lots of new people filed I-140/I-485 utilizing substitution labor in July / Aug 07 as the LC substitution was sunset after wards... Though it is legal  they could have made the PD, they day I-140 was filed, since they allow to retain original PD, now people who really waited are forced to wait even longer.... Now that the program is sunset and also many people already jumped the line, do not see any advantage in complaining about it and expect no administrative reaction to this as labor sub no longer exist... Only solution to retro... is unused visa recapture / increase visa number / exclude dependent / etc... none of these can happen without intervention from congress.... which required very intense lobbying... which in turn requires $$$$ ... and more participation and contribution from the members seems to be the only option that could help all... If you don't help yourself.. no one would !!!

1. I am not anti immigration, I am anti illegal immigration. You may not see a difference between the two but I assure you there is one. And no one can make me leave 'in a wink". Why? Because I am not illegal.
2. You are wrong in beliveing that majority of Americans want some amnesty for illegals. They dont, although some policticians have clearly made political calculations and believe that the demography of illegal immigrants will favour them in the polls.
3. You may believe that you are a temporary visitor here. This is home for me.
4. I just side with what I believe is right. That may sound being righteous to you.
5. Your sympathy is misguided again when directed towards condemend criminals. It should be directed towards there victims. I am curious, will you have sympathy for Kasab if he is hanged?
I am certainly not discouraging you in considering this your home but that does not preclude you from seeing the truth.
some politicians? Including the president, right? what does that mean? it clearly means that they are against deporting all those ilegal immigrants who are present here. some sort of amnesty is the only solution accepted by the majority. Now when this will become a law, nobody knows but atleast we have had several weeks of delibrations last year and sooner or later they will get back to it. If it were not for the economic woes and the wars they would be considering the health care and immigration simultaneously.

Yes, that would suffice as a name change in the passport. My situation was as follows.
Passport:
Surname: Y**** Z****
Given name: X****
I requested for an observation from SFO consulate and got it corrected to the following format.
Surname: Z****
Given name: X**** Y****
I got this done through mail and these were the documents required
1. Passport
2. $10 Cashiers cheque
3. Miscellaneous service form
4. self addressed and prepaid usps envelope
5. Cover letter
I guess as long as you dont change the spelling of your name, you do not require an advertisement or affidavit for getting it corrected.

can't they join two tables or data to find out that information ? Why they want to hide from us ?
Thats what my question is. I think they just replied to cough up $5K from us.
This is just delaying techniques by USCIS. I think they are assuming that no one is going to pay this much amount and they can hide the BS they are doing!
OR
They have exactly the same data in the same format we need. Now this is becoming like cheating by government.
