How is that getting a citizenship is an achievement?
For that matter nothing is an achievement. if Some one gets a baby everyone greets him. Is that an achievement? If you buy a house you are happy. Is that an achievement? For some people coming to US was an achievement. Some people think getting a green card. We see all congratulation message when someone get his GC.
So Please be broad minded. It may be nothing for you. But for some people it is an achievement. People like me are happy by achieving small things. This may nothing for you But it is good reason for the celebration for the people like us.

Thanks B3NKobe. I've been meaning to jump in on a battle here and this seemed like the perfect one to try (my first ever!). The image you picked was easy to work with... which was very nice.
I really wanted to do something with the big ugly grey button, but figured it might be considered more like a mod and not a skin. So I just left it.

I would strongly disagree that H1 = cheap labor. It's only the H1B employer who pays low salaries, where as the client pays the same billing rate to all contractors (including US citizens).
I agree with you. I was just using those salary numbers as an example. Did not mean to imply that H1 indicates cheaper labor.

Hi core members,
I am willing to play a more active part in this if you can utilise me in anyway
Hi,
The best thing that you can help us do for now is to recruit more members, and get them to pay IV. Trust me, membership and funding are two of the biggest challenges in front of us. Beyond that, if you would like to help further, send me a message, and I'll see who I can put you in touch with.
Thank you again!
Best,
RR

looking at the sarcastic, venomous and abusive responses, make me wonder why some people are so insecure and touchy. Why is there a my way or the highway mentality. Or may be some are happy living in illusion and don't wanna be shown some reality. couple of points
1) again none of us will be treated same as American. Some of you mention BO as role model, remember his mom was American and he was born in Hawaii. had he been born in Merrut, you wont have been talking bout him.
2) I got canadian PR not because i want to move there or anything. I got it cause its a good backup. If things dont go right in India, i can always come back for few more years. But this time it will be Canada. And before you guys start crying again, Canada has no problem with someone keeping a PR as long as he spends 2 out of 5 years in Canada.
Again, just the sheer number of people from India, China and Mexico running after PR ensures there is a long waiting line. No way around it. So either wait for your turn, or explore other alternative. If you want to spend time howling, crying and protesting, well good luck with that too. It only makes American look down on us as GC seeking lowly, noisy, needy immigrants.
Look up how immigration is done in NZ, AUS and Canada, that's a dignified way and then there is this USCIS way which humiliates you at every step. So the choice is there, its just tht we r too stuck with american GC

But, can i do a small change that "approximately 500,000 potential buyers stranded to invest around $100 Billions in Housing market(assuming that average price of home @$200,000)"
In the housing market terms, $100 Billions is a kicker and no doubt a Winning argument.
-------------
sure, we are struggling to raise 200K for IV's cause and u are talking about raising $100, billion. Housing industry cannot save us, IT has pretty strong lobbying clout, lets concentrate our efforts on IT industry.

I dont work for consultant and yet I relocated last year. I admit its less frequent when you work directly for a company. I work longer hours not because I am told to, but it makes me feel more secure in my job by doing so and by making myself more useful than neccesary. WHy? coz I cannot change employer and keep my greencard process intact and continual. Its has to be started from scratch. Not affordable. Hence the longer hours. Is it forced? No. Is it fair. Absolutely not.
Finding a local to marry is not an option. Why? Firstly, many of us are already married. Secondly and more importantly, if you marry a local with the intention of obtaining immigration benefits, you are breaking the law. I dont mean to say that marrying a local is wrong, but it is illegal if you are doing it only for immigration benefits resulting from marrying a citizen and you could lose that greencard if things go haywire. To quote Shushterman, an immigration lawyer and former USCIS employee: If you are caught doing something illegal by USCIS, you are better off robbing a liquor store than marrying a local with intention of greencard. USCIS may pardon you if you robbed a liquor store, and still give your greencard but not if you married a citizen with intention of immigration benefits.
Now, coming to rights and privileges, privileges wouldnt exist unless you had the rights. Privileges granted by Government to public are based on rights. There are some things that the seeker calls rights and the person who grants them calls them privileges. If you want to be forceful, you have to call it a right, not a privileges. We call "Human rights" rights for a reason and not "Human privileges". See, privileges imply a hand-out. Rights imply justice. There is a difference between hand-out and justice.

As regards this forum. I never contributed but found this to a good source of information.
bye bye:)
pathetic.. what a way of saying goodbye instead of thanking IV for their efforts. You should be thankful more than anyone as you never contributed to IV and got GC with 2005 PD when 2001, 2002 people are still waiting...
anyways.. all the best.. you really need it with the kind of attitude you have..

This is a great point. Even if we get one time relief, that should suffice because retro might not happen in the future as there will not be 245si/195kH1bs. I hope one of the core group members might want to look at this. This will atleast counteract the exaggerated and bloated immigration numbers by the antiimmigrant groups.
What you are not counting is the people who change jobs. Initial H1 allocation to wipro or TCS or satyam doesnt mean anything. More than 50% of those change jobs later on

Hello,
We dont see any action from core members anymore. I am watching so many threads. We expect more action items even week or 2 weeks. There are so many ideas floating around and which can get better attention if core works by putting some in agenda. I dont intend to hurt anyone. But we can do more.
I hope I participated more, but hooked up with internation travel every 2 weeks and its sucking my time.
If core is unable to do anything due to lack of money, please let us know that, and there are many who will come forward, but we need soem action that takes care of EVERYBODYS interests.

I dont remember seeing this response but to me it sounds promising.
Please continue to follow up, and in the meantime, send a letter to everyone you can (senator/USCIS sec./first lady/go for Infopass).
Edit: Forgot to mention, please print out the email response from CIS Ombudsman and put it as a supporting document when you send your case details to USCIS Sec. and others. Any response you get from USCIS, you should put it as a supporting document when you send your case details to higher authorities.
I think its only a matter of time before your case gets approved. Good luck!
I sent #7001 form in second week of October , i emailed CIS Ombudsman3-4 days back . I received this email today....
Thank you for contacting
the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CISOMB) in the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS). We received your case problem on
October 21, 2009. Your case is in the process of being assigned to an
Immigration Law Analyst. Please allow us 14 working days to process your case
problem
Any thoughts....does it mean anything? anyone else with this reply?
Thanks

Check out the above website. 6039 is the one relating to STEM and it has 26 co-sponsors
If you're looking for a "hot" bill or a controversial issue that's been in the news recently, but you're not sure of its exact title, our page of Hot Bills by issue area is a great starting point for your search. There you can find groups of the most newsworthy bills, and in some cases the most contentious bills in Congress, as compiled by the editors of OpenCongress. It's a handy cheat-sheet of buzzworthy bills and their official titles. The OpenCongress Blog might have written about it recently too and may offer a helpful plain-language summary

Let me try.. I'll do better than that and invert the 6 and make it 9.. now happy? :)
I was just kidding on that. I would be more than Happy to see an EB3-I get GC before me with just even a day ahead of me. They are equally deserving.
