As IV is willing to help those having issues with employers by providing a platform and interfacing with DOS, USCIS, DOL, Media, lawyers and support in any form - nothing stops people from standing up for themselves and report an abusive employer.
If your causes are genuine, please do not be afraid to stand up for yourselves, IV is there to support you

I am married too, but i only said that there are other easier paths aswell.
Regarding working late, i am a fulltime employee with H1-B and never came to office before 10:00AM and stayed after 6:00PM and never ever worked weekends. Mine can be an exceptional case, but what iam saying is, your relationship with your manager is important. This can make a lot of difference in your lives.
As long as you deliver what is expected of you, you can even work 4 days a week and get paid for 40 hrs per week.
I don't know, if we are deviating from our main discussion agenda started by LogicLife.

Yes you can do that. But you work late coz people Not dependant on H1B's can leave on their scheduled times coz if they get laid off, they wont be deported if they dont get a job in 10 days. Sure there is No Formal distinction on paper between H1B's and Non H1Bs, but it is assumed that since ur application depends on the employer (entirely), you will put urself to the grind.
What about people who come here already married? Now for those unmarried you have to marry a Citizen to get a Green card. Marriage is a totally seperate thing and is not something that should be used solely for getting a GC (IMHO). Sorry but i do not agree that marrying a citizen is an easier way of doing ur immigration.

I think many a times we over analyze things. It does not matter what the common people think about legal immigrants. Most people do not care. Even if they do, it does not affect us in any way, because rules are made by politicians not by men in the streets. And most polticians do care about immigrants, but only the illegals ones, because it is their future vote bank. For legals the only hope is companies like Microsoft, with a big fat wallet. Just pray that the economy keeps going at the current pace or else there could more trouble for us.
Leadership or Money is not issue for getting results. Why there is so much oppositon to H1b and GC increase? There is a fear in certain american people that they may lose job to the low wage H1b people. Is anyone either corportions or Pro-immigrants trying to remove the fear? Is skill bill has any protection to american workers? We want to increase to h1b or gc without botherng the impact. Now USA really need more h1bs and gcs. But are we suggesting anything when job growth stops or recession happens? Rememember so many people were laid off between 2000 to 2003 including H1b people and Americans but that time also most of 195k h1b was used. I knew lot of people

Bold decison will be H1 increase or Gc increase with complete protection to American people and adjustment when demand decreases. If that is correct (same category spill over) EB3 has a very very distant hope of getting some spill over when EB3 ROW becomes C and does not use all numbers. I was of the opinion before that the un-used numbers from EB3 ROW will go to EB1 and then EB2 India.

I finally get the chance to share our wonderful news with you all. We (me and my wife) received our "Welcome new resident" e-mails this morning.
11 yrs for me and 12 yrs for my wife since coming to the USA. Between the two of us, Three J1s and Two F1 stamps, Six H1b stamps, Four 140s, 10 EAD/AP (5 each), 3 finger print notices apiece, Four RFEs between us and a total of $68KUSD in total USCIS fees/Lawyer fees and countless gray hair later and after many an emotional roller coaster over the years, it was our turn today.
For those of you unclear about the admittedly weird above numbers, take a look at my RD. It is not a typo! I often wondered if I was a lone Dinosaur that survived the meteorite. I never saw anyone with a 4 plus year 485 recently.
Our 485s were 2 yrs old and approvable when the visa bulletin fiasco happened in summer 2007. Ironically I heard that even my FPs/Background check were cleared by then (which in those days was the main cause of delays).
I made many approaches over the years to the USCIS via phone, email, and fax, My Congressman contacted them on multiple occasions (atleast 3 times when he forwarded their response to me). I finally also wrote the ombudsman 2 weeks ago. I was pretty scathing in that letter as well (about their mockery of their stated FIFO policy etc). I am not sure exactly what worked, or if anything at all did, and it was just my time. After a while dealing with the injustice, you just get numb. Today finally I breathe a deep sigh of relief. The loooooong wait is over.
I've spent so long waiting I even get nostalgic about the early days. There is a strong belief that the memo was issued in violation of the Administrative Procedures Act. There is also the belief that the memo violates long-standing precedent and established law. It is believed that there are numerous industry groups as well as individual companies that may be pursuing litigation on this matter. The BLC is in the process of working with the American Immigration Council to create a special section within its clearinghouse service http://www.legalactioncenter.org/litigation-clearinghouse (http://www.h1cap.com/blocked::http://www.legalactioncenter.org/litigation-clearinghouse) specifically dedicated to collecting and posting relevant documents and information on this issue. Meanwhile, my lawyer today emailed & confirmed that the h1b will be valid even after using AP to travel and one can also renew or transfer the h1b. Even after the current I-94 expires obtained using AP, if one has still valid EAD or H1B I-797, he/she will be in status. However she also said that this is tricky situation and she could not find any CIS memo.
HOPE THIS WILL STILL SOLVE MANY PEOPLE'S DOUBTS.
Now I see no reason why anyone should NOT use AP to travel. Why should ANYONE waste money and time for restamping and take a small chance???
However as "Ramba" said in post# 27, it is still a small chance as no one knows what is exactly the CIS rules.
