Thank you very much for starting this campaign. After this was started, the drought for the past few days has ended and 4 members have contributed today till now. Thank you very much for starting this. We will be able to use all our resources in the coming months to get something done if we have sufficient funds that meet our target of 60K by December end. If all members get active, there is no doubt that we will succeed very soon.

I am a new member; just joined 59secs ago. I read some of the posts and know that there are some Singaporeans in this thread who have applied for the H1B1 visa under the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Questions:
1. How long does the process of applying for the USSFTA H1-B1 take?
2. Where is the best place to apply for the USSFTA H1-B1 visa?
Please advise especially if you have already done it. I am about to start the process. Any advice is highly appreciated.

Finally got the email today, Aug 13, 2009, from USCIS indicating that the card production has been ordered for me. No word yet about my wife's GC. Case still pending.

yes, we are definitely expecting a response and thats why we are stating the timeline.
At minimum, we definitely need to higlight with details as to how USCIS is playing with us.
Nobody can predict whether we will get a response or not. But, we definitely need to satisfy ourselves that we fought till the last.
2 or 3 years back, nobody expected IV to achieve anything. Look what IV has achieved today. It only happened through relentless protests.
During July fiasco, everybody was resigned to getting their 485 files returned back. The force of IV protest made the reversal.
I am confident that with lots of protests, USCIS will churn out a few approvals in the last week of September. At least, guys who got RFE can expect something. I am not one of them, though, as my file has not been picked up at all. that is a different issue.

Granted you scored a point when you were allowed to file for employment authorization this July. If your one rally worked, do you really think other rallies will work too? The world of politics is driven by numbers; you do not have enough numbers to get any lawmaker interested. So wake up Macacas, admit it, you all are bunch of losers.
So far as the skills are concerned, you have been harping on the theme that you are highly skilled? If the definition of highly skilled is a mere undergrad degrees then 75% of Adult Americans are highly skilled. I bet not even 5% of you have PHDs and you call yourself highly skilled. Huhhh
And this for the leadership of your organization: You are wasting your time. If you are so desperate to get green cards contact me. We will see what we can do� One thing I believe though is this country needs people with leadership skills and not so called "Highly Skilled". So I will be more than happy to work with you. No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India,own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. Retire by the time your kids become earners. Grow vegetables in back yard. Do gardening and have fun. Thats how life should be. Do not hope for green card. H A V E F U N.

Understand that everyone's situation is different, but is it really worth it to put your life on hold, that too based on the whims of USCIS?!? Just a thought. 10 years ago, the standard of living gap between India and US was so large, it made perfect sense. The gap isnt that huge any more. For some of us stuck in EB3, it could mean another 5-10 years wait. By then the gap would have closed some more. So looking back at that point in time will the sacrifices be worth it? Once again, there is no right or wrong answer, but just cant help wondering.

All I wanted convey is that the current visa bulletin is an opportunity (just like jul 07), IV should try to take advantage of it. They made a mistake by putting in writing that USCIS can not estimate, lets use it to our full advantage.
Lesser mortals like myself can not do much...but surely IV core can.
IV core or state chapter leads are none other than "Once upon a time normal visitors to the website" - there are lot of members who are highly dedicated to the cause.
It will be great if people like you would not put yourself down and call yourself "less mortals". Even if you print out 25 flyers and put them in grocery stores - you have done something for IV. Contribute in every possible way. it is the collective effort that matters.
Join a state chapter and convey your willingness to do something - IV will know that you are there and can/will do what you can/will. Then IV can channelize your contributions in best possible way.
You are as much as any other member.

Even during the recess, we were talking to the staff of a ton of senators. Most of the time the senators' staff are interested only if someone from 'their constituency' is also affected. We always say we have a ton of folks from each state, but nothing works like a real example.
For example, when we speak to say Senator Kennedy, it helps us to present the story of folks affected by retrogression and living in say Boston, MA. That way, the staff has some incentive to look into this and get hooked immediately.
Since time is short this time, we need all the stories from each state to make our case.
As promised, we will not reveal your story to media if you do not want to.
Though there is no harm to reveal one's name in media as can be noticed by the folks featured in the Roll Call article, Philly Inquirer and News Observer.
We will just concentrate on the crux how you are suffering because of delays such that even if your boss reads this story, he will not be offended or put off (Read our members stories in the three articles I have mentioned, none of it can get the IV members in any trouble at all).
At the same time we understand that you might have reasons to remain out of media and we will fully respect that.
But please send in your stories so we have a convincing story to make our case.....

I did write my story and then reread your first post, then thought to myself: my story is just similar to that Italian lady! The only thing different is she probably would have gotten her green card without much trouble, unlike my process.

I think the Indian Passport offices give new passports with surname and first/given names. Check with the embassy.
