Back in the days there was a campaign launched by Govt of India to plant more trees.....the slogan was "plant one tree for every house". A wise guy was prompt to ask the govt... "give me a house, I will plant a tree". Likewise, give me the GC, I will definitely follow the rules.

employment and family
Right, but employment and family are further broken into sub categories. Which group is FX (F1, F2,etc) and which one is EX(EB-1,EB-2,etc)? I see these two categories that are generally not in the visa bulletin I see on the state gov's web site:
FX 1 May 2002 1 May 2002

thanks

Less than 800 contributions is such a shame.Assuming all the 3000 are affected by the retrogression it just doesnt make sense not to donate anything at all by the remainder of the members. People will have to understand how much of a difference it would make if everyone contributes.
Looks like the donors who have already donated have to donate all over again and that in double to make up for the deficit and to reach 150k
As they say "There Is No Such Thing As a Free Lunch".

Why are you so PROUD to be an American? Just be happy for it...its just your need so that you can live in this country for as many year as you want and of course its good achievement and i am happy for you, you just lived here for 10+ yrs and you forgot your Home country where you were born and gave you a good education with you had an opportunity to come here and make your life based on that..you should be PROUD of that country no matter where you go and what you achieve its all because of you Home Country
If you are form INDIA then you should say "Mera Barath Mahan" first and then "God Bless America"
Many Congrats!! to you on your American Citizenship Good Luck!!
Why shouldn't he be proud? I am sure he had to struggle to get his GC first as we all did and then wait to become a US citizen. He has chosen the US to be his country and so he has all the reasons to be proud! As for being Indian fisrt and then being American, it is all wrong. You can't have one foot in one place and the other foot in another place. He chose the US as his country and he as an obligation to be loyal to the US first.

The first one on the list. I assumed MRN stood for Moron. (The most of the other encouraging ones were not there when I made that post). Maybe abusive was too strong a word to describe that remark.
But I appreciate your response and restoring my faith in IV !!!
Thank you Lasantha for bringing up the issue of abusive remarks. We take this matter very seriously and we do our best to disclose the information of the member who leaves abusive remark. Since you posted about abusive remark, we looked at the remarks posted for you. Here are the remarks left for you in last 1 month. We are not sure which of these remarks are abusive. Kindly excuse us as I personally do not know the meaning of abbreviations MRN or pos. But your help in pointing to the abusive remark will be very helpful.

I have contributed $200 to the Omnibus fund drive and intend to contribute a lot more in the coming months. However, I would not have been a member of IV if this were a paid site.
I prefer that the contributions are voluntary and I am an example of someone who joined IV as a member and then CHOOSE to contribute to the cause. If IV had asked me to become a member by paying $200, I certainly would not have joined.
I vote to keep the site free and allow free flow of information. By making this a paid site we hurt the cause that IV is fighting for and we hurt potential members who would contribute.
I want to ask members who have contributed $500 - $1000, if this site asked that much for you to join would you have joined? If so would you continue to contribute after paying this much money? After paying money to a pay site there is a sense of entitlement that people feel. They feel that they have already paid their due and they will not contribute additional funds thinking that they have already paid once when choosing to be a member.
I urge the administrators and core member to please keep this site voluntary and free.

WaldenPond,
Thanks for all the efforts you have made for us. Just contributed 200$ , please ask others to contribute too. Together we all need to give that one last giant push......
Friends ,
I appeal to all of you, this is the best time to start enegizign ourself and contribute for the cause.... I have done my second contrbution ...let's do it..
Hello anurakt,
Thank for contributing again to IV. You and other members like yourself would be the reason for IVs success in changing the flawed green card system.
Thank you for encouraging other IV members for contributing. As you know, this is very important and more amongst us should encourage our fellow IV members to contribute. Often times it is evident that few IV members are struggling to keep a positive tone on the forums. As you may have experienced, it is easy to post few messages here and there. The message of some of these posts is to throw out ideas for others to implement. But in the end, the success of our community will depend on the contribution from kind members like you. Thank You.
Regards,
WaldenPond

Bashing the system and correcting the imbalances are correct. But some people in this forum are targetting individual persons(some times Senators) and doing personal attacks some times bad words also(I can see atleast 100 postings like that). No one realise the fact that same right we were not able to get in our own country. Can anyone talk to MLA or MP in India by phone when they want if any issue?. So we need to appreciate that we got extra freedom than our own country. If we want to correct problems in the system we have to fight with patient with point in mind that we are aliens compared to those who came here 20 years or 100 years before us.
Everyone on this forum or at least most of us on the forum know what are the downsides in indian system. Every one can write thousands of pages . I agree with you that India has problems and I am the first one to agree.
The momemt one starts comparing both countries , It is a race to bottom. Hope you understand.
At least personally I have so much respect for the system. Dont think that who questions an unfair system is less appreciative of USA.
This is what I sent in the email to an american friend of mine and the response I got from him.

Honestly I dont have anything against undocumented people and I identify myself with them in aspects of supporting my family backhome. Whatever I have as individual a home and some real estate investments in India happened to me because of America. I used to have high regard for american system of governance , Senates mode of debating issues, the respect for minority and how it is institutionalized into the system with power of fillibuster. Some of these senators have my respect which include John McCain whom I thought to be a quintessintial american and now I have to at least pay attention when a conservative talks about common sense and accuses some one being out of touch :)
They plan on having a CIVICS test , assimiliation tests, english language tests...I think I woud fare better in all these tests than many of the 12 million people to whom Senate is trying to hand out semi green cards immediately and at the same time sending me a message to pack bags and leave.
What senate is doing and frustrating and disgusting. If this passes in its current form it will write a death sentence to my american dream.
Another funny thing about the bill is , Undocumented/illegal people dont have to pay back taxes before they legalize. What would happen if 15 to 20 million american citizens refuse to pay taxes.
I am taxed every month for social security though I am not eligible for any of those benifits as of yet. I always thought if that is the price I have to pay to make America my home I thought I would do that happily.
I still have beleif in the system and hopefully something better comes out .
I am just writing this email to complete my civic responsibility and If I dont speak out nobody will speak on my behalf.
I would appreciate if you can educate some people like your dad ...

You know, there are often times we all get upset that some stupid questions make it to the list, republican debate was one such yesterday, today's democratic one looked better. I hated that they did not ask our question inspite of it being the 2nd popular one but I personally think the question was too damn narrow for them to care.
For us, it may seem the world but for them it is just a technicality/one of the several points of CIR. Both Clinton and Obama seem to always chime in and act all gung-ho about legal immigration coming first.
Whenever they are asked about any frig'n immigration question, they throw the buzz word 'comprehensive immigration reform' and that folks, covers the entire gamut. The worst part is, on this issue the entire front runners look the same, well, almost. Mitt R is against but John, Hillary and Barack all seem to sing the same koom-ba-yaa song about CIR.

What is a H-1B blackout?
Sorry by "blackout" I meant how H1B visas were used up in the first day this year causing hysteria and utter confusion in the community, leading to a lotter system in the end and 2/3 of applicants without the covetted visa.
Not surprising: !

Guys , if you have contibuted and pledged to contibute monthly, pls update your signature with that.
This would motivate non-contibuting members to contribute.
Just a suggestion....This has been done earlier and it worked to a certain extent.

Check with the educational evaluator. They are the one who will let you know if your 3+3 years degree will qualify with educational requirments for EB2. Of course you could get a negetive answer also but it is money well spent
Based on the educational evaluation take the next steps
