First of all I commend your and everyone in putting their effort. I totally agree with you that we need more people and money. I think people are first to come and money will automatically follow.
While word-of-mouth is effective we can augment this to get attention using other means:
1. We can persuade news portals to advertise for our cause in a corner that might help us to get more people. Most Indians I know read Indian news everyday. If we can convince e.g., eenadu.net a telugu newspaper, to run ads we can get attention of lot people.
2. Please start selling the current acheivements that are not confidential. Like you might have been successful in persuading a high profile senator about this problem. Put his quotes on our site and also possible grab attention from bloggers.
3. If we can also tap academia who support skilled immigration that would help us. Let us put there studies in our reference section (I am assuming we didn't do this yet). This
makes senator to reference our site and make their lives easy.
4. Please do not discount freewill members who do not have a GC problem but savor
helping others with immigration problem. It could be Americans or Immigrants we'll get them all in.
I think these actions will help us grow our strength. I know it is easy said than done. I will send a mail to rediff and eenadu to put our banner on their frontpage. If anyone has contacts working for these website. That will make it whole lot easier.

I believe we have rights. If the million of illegals think that they have the right to stay, why can't we? Obviously, everyone has their own experiences in the US. Some of you might not have hit the "boiling point" yet and so you might not have felt the heat!!! There are people who carry the entire family here and they depend on the GC to make a difference in life. You are you and you are entitled to your own interpretation as to whether or not this is RIGHT or Privilege. I believe what LogicLife said is very true as Immigration is a movement in life. If you don't believe, you probably don't deserve it when someone said you don't. I've been here for 12 whole years, got married and bought a house. I have been paying colleage tuition, taxes and my duties as an entity in this society. I deserve a green card.

Those who got labor sub and got their GCs already must reapply within XX days or their GCs will be deemed invalid? How do you think will such a rule be?
If labor substitution, applying 140 in 45 days etc.. are the kind of rules that are being framed, it is mainly because all the companies started exploiting these rules.
It can be hypocratically argued that Desi companies only sell labor and misuse it, but from a larger perspective, any company including those multibillion dollar companies may actually misuse labors ie like HR will use sub labor for friend, lawyer may educate HR about the loophole and they will use it as a card for new hires. If such a thing is stopped there is no room for misuse of any form. We have to thank Desi companies because in someway, by totally exploiting the loophole, they helped this cause.

1. with same employer, I actually got 3 years extension. (being 140 approved)
2. with diff. employer, would I get 3 years or just six months, or not at all?
With different employer, you can get 3 years as well, if the new employer has filed for a new PERM and you have received an approved I-140.

Your comment reminded me of something I had penned down right after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit to the US. It was very depressing.
A White Collar Slave

He also made a point to acknowledge the contributions made by Indian students to America�s Universities. All this is most heart-warming. However, as a legal non-permanent resident awaiting labor certification (or the ability to work) since the past 3 years I feel bound by invisible chains whose cold steel refuses to be warmed. The labor certification process is technically supposed to take 12 months.
Post 9-11, grinding to a near halt the labor certification process of permanent residency applicants is a �win-win� opportunity for the government. Get these highly skilled laborers on a short-term lease of an H1B. Pass off the bureaucracy and red tape of the INS on the process of Homeland security. The latest breakdown, the INS information technology system has been down for 6 weeks now. When asked questions about a status of the system, they donot respond
HIB visa holders make money in dollars that certainly affords them a higher income than would have been possible in their own country. I donot want to undervalue this benefit. But, the American government and citizens hugely profit from the brief stay of these H1B�s in America. H1B�s make money, 99% of which is placed in American banks, which enables banks to fund American projects of citizens and noncitizens. They buy American stock, pay into a social security system and a pension fund that the may not have access to when they themselves are seniors- after all the H1B is only for 6 years. Besides the obvious monetary contributions, they contribute culturally, linguistically and through charity to American society
While they are contributing in as many ways to the American society. Their own lives are in limbo. Continuously stressed over the next rule change in visa status that may affect them, or visiting relatives. Their able spouses unable to work due to visa restrictions. But the �American dream� is an invisible chain currently held by INS merchants as they pull, push or decide to hold steady their white-collar slaves.

I was incorrectly equating personal actions and beliefs with IV's actions and goals. I apologize for that.
First of all, my action just represents myself, not IV. Secondly, I don't really care whether EB-3 ROW would quit or join IV. To be frank with you, my PD is just 3 month away from the current date (EB2 China). From what I know now, immigration reform won't reduce my waiting time significantly. I have contributed to this organization, but now I decide to take some action of my own instead of contribute to this organization. It's quite funny that you threaten to quit this organization. This organization would benefit you much more than people like me since you are in EB3 ROW. But it is totally your call. I don't care whether you quit or not.

I wholeheartedly think that this gesture would be seen as fairly "american" and could defuse tension if it arises. Plus it would link back nicely to the flower campaign as well, and the eventual destination of the bouquets sent.
Political stance on wars aside, I don't think there are many people who don't support the lives on the line.

For all of you who have got standard responses from USCIS, please do something about it. Call the local senator, file DHS-7001 with CIS Ombudsman, send a letter to USCIS secretary Napolatino, call TSC using POJ method, etc, etc.
If you are current, they need to look at your file. Case under review means nothing at all....my case was under review since July 20, 2009. Finally, i found out that my file was sitting in the storage and collecting dust.
As other previous posters have mentioned, you should try calling TSC/NSC on Thursday/Friday evening. I found out that the IOs were in a better mood, as compared to my calls on other days (specially in the morning/afternoon).
If you need details on the IO I talked to, I can provide it to you offline. I am still trying to reach that IO (need to say a big thank you) but have been unable to talk to him/her so far.

What is this reverse brain drain ? there is no such thing - folks who are here are going to hang on tooth & nail to stay here come hell or high water - the only ones who are going back are the ones who have no other option.
If one shows more loyalty than that shown by that entity, then one is a fool. That entity could be a country, party, company, spouse.

Same situation happened to myfather. He attenede visitor visa interview. VO told him that he will be getting passport in a week. But we waited for more than 10 days. When we checked online status, address in VFS was wrong. So it went to wrong address.
Call VFS customer service. customer service is really good.They can help you to get the passport to ur correct address.

It is not fair to expect a member to contribute the moment he joins. It takes some time to understand the impact of GC problems and get a good feeling about IV activities. IV can not post its activities on forums. You will be surprised to know that anti-immigration organizations are well organized.
However, we have numerous members with 50+ posts and 3+ month of membership with no intension to contribute $20 (you will not get 2 Indian Buffet's in Washington DC for $20; it takes $4 (metro up) + $4 (metro down) + $4 (parking) everyday to DC).
I (and other members) have literally begged some of these members. One particular member says (s)he is going back to his/her country but starts posting abnoxious messages after a few weeks.

From my conversations with many such people they are in-principle sympethetic to what we are doing (but I guess they forget the next moment).
